Hello, my name is Leiah and I used to be a blogger. Or at least I thought I was. Oh, I’ve got lists of blog topics. Lists on apps I’ve downloaded on my iPhone…lists I’ve written in the Moleskin journal in my purse…lists on scraps of paper in my make-up bag…you name it, I’ve made a list on it. Only thing is I can’t seem to get it from the list onto this here blog. Ughh… In any event, there have been some pretty significant things that have happened to me and those in my life so I thought maybe I’d ease back into posting with a small update on what’s been going on these past couple of months.
Katiebug is working at the tax preparation office where I worked last year and also living with me through tax season. Have to say, it’s been pretty nice having her around. I forgot how much I had missed her face until I got to see it every day. And remember way, way back when I mentioned I had spent time in Houston with her because she was having surgery? Well, she’s six months post-op and is doing fantastic. How fantastic you ask? This much:
So, so very proud of this young lady. She’s working out like a fiend, has lost 148 pounds with only 79 more until she reaches her goal weight and is also preparing to run the Baton Rouge 5K Color Run in April with That Man’s oldest girl. She’s trying to get me to run with them but we’ll see how that works out.
Another splendiferous event was the arrival of these two little punkins in December. Please meet That Man’s twin grandsons, Max and Mason, The Wonder Twins.
And while I’m thinking about it - If you’re stumped on a baby or wedding gift for someone, please contact Casey at Mom's Little Secrets. Do not stop, do not pass go, do not collect $200 – just get in touch with her. This is the subway art she created for me to give to the parents of the Wonder Twins for Christmas.
Isn’t it just the most precious thing you’ve seen? I matted it in red with a black frame and they loved it! She does the best work. I’ve also got one she did for LSU fans, as well as one with things you would see or hear in the South. You might also know her from The Starnes Family but however you know her, keep her in mind for a one-of-a-kind gift.
Not to let you think all is beautiful and rosy around here, I was laid off the 11th of this month and being unemployed is the worst. Like I told the SGG last night, I’ve been crying like Tammy Faye and am more depressed than Honey Boo Boo’s sofa cushions. I’m applying everywhere and for everything but nothing concrete yet. I did get a call today from a recruiter looking for a bookkeeper for an insurance office so hopefully something will come of that but until then it’s looking pretty bleak around here. I got a text from my former boss telling me that I wasn’t eligible for unemployment but I know that I am, which means I’m going to have to go through the appeals process and that means even longer before I’d receive a payment. Unfortunately, bills and the rent don’t wait for unemployment to start coming in. I know my way around the interwebs pretty well, maybe I can find one of those websites where people will offer to pay your bills. Then again - my luck it will be some sort of an FBI sting operation and I’ll end up in a 5x5 cement room with a gender-questionable person named Helga who’ll make me trim her toenails and perform routine full body mole patrols.
Pretty depressing for a Monday, no? I’m hoping I can find my blogging mojo soon as well as maybe a few dollars in the cushions.
Keep your fingers crossed!

And in the middle of all that craziness - you have time to make us laugh!
I think you underestimate your earning ability in relation to your blog readership, ahem :)
And WOWZA - GO KATIEBUG! I am so impressed... so much hard work and that is AWESOMESAUCE! (As you can tell by the overuse of ALLCAPS - sorry).
Congrats on those adorable twinsies! Does that make you a grandma yet???
Praying for a perfect new job for you. One that doesn't involve a Helga and moles...
How good does Katiebug look?! Wow!!!!!!!!
And, I'm overwhelmed with your kind kind words! I loved creating your art. You always have the best ideas!
I'm glad to see you back, but I'm sad about your laid-off-ness.
Katiebug looks great!
