Alright y'all, I need help with something. A friend of mine called me this morning in a panic asking for my help. She's dating a man whose birthday is coming up but she has no idea what to get him. The circumstances are as follows:
- She's only gone out with him a few times
- He sent her a gorgeous bouquet for Valentine's Day
- He doesn't like wine or other liquor; only beer
- He's a very simple man, likes simple things
- She's thinking that clothes are too personal at this stage
- She's not sure if he collects anything because he's never mentioned anything like that.
Now your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to leave a comment with a suggestion for a birthday gift for this about-to-be 49 year old man. She's a read of this here blog so she'll be checking to see what you've suggested. I can't wait to see them and hear Gidget's reaction to them. C'mon, put those thinking caps on and give it your best shot. Ask the man/men in your life what they think. What would be good, what would creep them out. I'll let you know what she chooses!

If they've only gone out a few times, I suggest slowing that roll and forgetting about the present altogether. Anything non-edible (and go with that where you will) is a bad idea--way too permanent!
Maybe you could go with a card, that's probably safe, but keep it on the funny side of the card aisle.
I think I would either take him to dinner or cook dinner at home.
A container and mixed nuts(most men like them)and a card.
If he's an LSU fan or Saints fan.. mabye a fun koozie instead of nuts?
If he likes beer, how about a meal at a micro-brew place. It might be fun for him to be able so sample these brews.
Dinner out and a card. That's sufficient enough since they haven't been dating long.
I'm with everyone else on this. If you haven't been dating long, and that's evident since she doesn't know his hobbies, then dinner and a card is more than enough.
