Who Says You Can’t Go Home?

Before I had the Southern Girl Gang, I had the JUGs.  No, not jugs – the JUGs.  Just Us Girls.

Who are these girls?  They are some of the most wonderful women on the planet and right now they are making me laugh out loud because they are burning up Facebook with comments and plans for this weekend.

We will be getting together again with the girls we grew up with.  Some of us have been friends since before first grade while others have only really connected within the last few years.  Thank you Facebook and your amazing superpowers.

The last time we were together was this past Summer.  We floated in the lake all day, cooked at night,  played board games and picked our teams by who had a uterus and who didn’t, and drank a little.  Okay, a lot.

And we called boys.  Boys we went to junior high and high school with.  Let me ask you something. What would you do if your phone rang in the middle of the night and it was a group of drunk giggling 45 year old women asking if your husband was home?  Actually, we spoke to his daughter.  She said he was sleeping and couldn’t wake him up.  I think she said he had to get up early for something (work maybe?) but said she would leave a note telling him some girls from school called.  Can you just imagine the look on his face when he saw that?  We (I say we – it was really only one of the girls who did all the calling but none of us stopped her) also called a few others boys but they were single so that was totally okay, right?

I have to say if you asked me graduation night in May 1983 if we would still be hanging out together 28 years later, in my heart I would have hoped so but didn’t think it was realistic.

Sometimes it’s good to be wrong.

Toodles y’all!

Thanks Leiah! As usual I enjoyed hanging with you for a while.

You are so lucky you have a group like this.
My daughter does too. I moved away and lost contact with my high school chums. When I went to college I was older than the others because I waited to have kids first. End product = I have JUGS (original meaning) but not JUGS like yours. kt

WOW, can I relate! I recently went to a Girl Scout reunion and spent the day with friends I hadn't seen in forty years. We had such a great time. Laughs, tears, stories we'd forgotten. We're lucky to have such great friends.

I used to have real jugs but surgery gave me normal beewbies but I really wish I had your kind of JUGS! I mean, I have the SGG and all and I love y'all, but there are a few friends I had in jr high that I would love to get to know again now that we are adults.

I'm so glad y'all had a great time and I can not imagine the look on that man's face but can you imagine what his daughter must have been thinking...LOL

To Aunt Crazy: Get on Facebook. I found a whole passel of friends from elementary school, junior high, and high school there. We've shared a ton of pictures and are having a great time reminiscing.
