Wednesday Rambles

Once again I’m following in the footsteps of one of my fellow SGG members, Crazy Texas Mommy, aka Candance and doing a little bullet list of things going on in my world.  Yes, I could do it without the bullet points but 1) bullet points are fun and 2) these are the only bullet- associated points I’m allowed to utilize.

  • I still have all my Christmas decorations up.
  • They will stay up until January 6th – the 12th day of Christmas.
  • It’s also known as the Feast of The Epiphany.
  • That’s when the Magi arrived at the manger.
  • I figure if Mary could spend those 12 days in a stable full of smelly animals with a newborn waiting on three wise men to get there, I can handle a few decorations.
  • I got a cookbook for Christmas.
  • It’s by Theresa from The Real Housewives of New Jersey and I can’t wait to use it.
  • I’m also more excited than I should be about Toddlers & Tiaras coming on tonight.
  • Way more excited.
  • I love breakfast for supper.
  • Does TLC now mean The Loony Channel?
  • Really?  Addicted to eating toilet paper?
  • What drives someone to even take the first bite?
  • What’s next – paper towels?

That’s not all I have swirling around in my noggin this week but I’ll give you all a break.  I’m off to put on my warm jammies, make a cup or two of tea and watch those crazy Toddlers.  While wearing my tiara of course.

If I don’t talk to you before, I’ll see you next year!

Merry Music Monday

Five more days – everyone ready?  I finally got my dining room tree up tonight.  Yes, I have more than one tree.  In the past I’ve had as many as six but now I’m down to only two.  Tonight I put up the one with all the nice color-coordinated ornaments that is in the dining room.  I do another old-fashioned, red & green plaid tree in the kitchen/breakfast area with all  the ornaments Katiebug made in school, the yearly collectible ornaments she received every year, lots of vintage Santa Claus, Radkos (with a few Radko look-a-likes) and some mercury glass thrown in for good measure.

Here’s the result of tonight’s efforts:

077And here’s a close up of some of the ornaments on there.  I think there is around 9 dozen on there.

068 I almost forgot – I bought myself a Christmas present this week with my Christmas bonus:

canonHer name is Penelope and I predict you’ll see a lot of her around her in the future.

I hope you all have a wonderful week.  I’ll be spending some time with my family this week.  So here’s my family’s theme song Merry Christmas from the Family by Mr. Robert Earl Keene.

I’ll be home for Christmas

But tonight I’m over at The Southern Girl Gang Chronicles.   Make sure you visit and see what’s going on over there.

It’s not Christmas until I see or hear these three things:  Brach’s Christmas Nougat candies, Linus explaining the true meaning of Christmas on A Charlie Brown Christmas and Charles Brown singing “Please Come Home for Christmas”. Now, I’d never seen (or heard) this version but am ever glad I found it.  Home never looked so good, let me tell you!

Yeah I know - it’s not Monday anymore

That Man and I were driving down the highway the other day and saw a huge billboard for one of the casinos around here proudly promoting Vince Vance and his Valiants.  It reminded me how much I loved this song.

While I was watching the video all I could do was give thanks to 6 pound, 8 ounce Baby Jesus that some hairstyles and make-up choices had gone by the wayside.  Except Vince’s ~ if the photo on the the billboard is true.

Oy vay.

Oh and if a momma can brag a little, go check out Katiebug's latest blog post.  I don’t know what I did to end up with such a great child, but I’m sure thankful I did!

Merry Music Monday

Have y’all gotten all your shopping done?  I still only have one gift purchased and it’s for That Man’s granddaughter.  I’ve made plans to take Katiebug shopping so she’s taken care of.  Now to figure out what to get That Man.  I put so much pressure on myself trying to outdo the previous years gift.  Last year I gave him a print of an overhead shot of Tiger Stadium with the LSU band spelling out his last name.  Year before that it was a picture a photographer from the Netherlands had taken of his grandfather back in the early 90’s.  He came here and did a whole series called “Cajun Musicians” and I happened to find it online.  Before that I had a baseball cap made with the mascot from his elementary school on it.  This year – I’ve got nothing.  Nothing and it’s driving me crazy.

Hopefully you’re not having the same problems I am so here’s my wish for you:  short lines, cheerful cashiers and lenient return policies!

I hope you like this week’s selection.  It was his favorite Christmas song.  I actually have this CD somewhere but cannot for the life of me find it.  Enjoy!

Merry Music Monday

Here we are again ~ on the cusp of another week of school, work, errands, shopping and preparing for Christmas. Thankfully I don’t have anymore trials to prepare for anytime soon. I was a whupped girl by the end of this week.

I had another song in mind for this week but I was scooped! It’s one of my favorites so be prepared for it to appear again.

I love love love this song so without further adieu, here is this week’s holiday tune.

Enjoy!
