Well, don’t that just put the pepper in the pot!

Hey y'all - check this out.  I'm famous today!  Ok, maybe not famous but I'm pretty proud.  I was interviewed by Dee for her blog Say Anything.  So click HERE and see my answers to her questions.   Make sure you read the older posts too because there are so many good bloggers out there she’s interviewed and you’re sure to find a new one (or two) to enjoy.

I went back home Friday night for a friend’s surprise birthday party and she was totally surprised.  I wish I had made it there in enough time to see her face when she arrived but because of some crazy traffic situation on the interstate I took the back roads and it took way longer than I thought.

I spent the night with my parents because I was supposed to go to a benefit the next day for her sister who unfortunately lost a very long battle to cancer.  Well, guess who 1) woke up with a stupid headache and 2) forgot her clothes at home?  The headache eventually went away and since mama had to take my grandma her medicine for the week I thought I would go with her.  I was sorry I missed spending more time with some good friends but my grandma is 85 (or 86…I never can remember) and although not “officially” diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, you can tell it’s there.  And since yo just never know when the last time you see someone will be so I decided to spend the afternoon with her.

I had to remind her who I was but after that, she didn’t forget me anymore that day.  It was a really good day.  We went through some old pictures and she gave me a few knick knacks and things she knew I had always liked.  She gave me some old plates that were chipped, cracked, crazed and sometimes glued back together.  They may not be antique shop quality but are perfect to me.   I’m going to hang then on the walls of my kitchen. You know I’ve mentioned many times I live in an old farm house and these plates will look beautiful hanging in there.  I be sure to post some pictures when I do because I just realized I never posted any after I painted it.

Oh and y’all ~ that little Cajun lady can still tell some stories.  I never knew how she and my grandpa met but I do now.  She also gave me the subject for my True Story Tuesday this week.  Let me just say I’ll never be the same after hearing it but am still giggling about it. That is, now that the shock has worn off.

Y’all have a great week!

Sounds like a good weekend. I wish I had gotten to spend time with my grandma growing up. My mom's mother had passed away long before I was born and my dad's mother had alzheimers as long as I can remember. Cherish that time!

I love spending time with my grandmother. She is funny, wise, accepting, and the most loving person I know. She has over 100 grand and great grand kids. My seven kids is nothing to some people in my family. We are prolific breeders. Or Rednecks who don't know what birth control is. Take your pick.

Congrats on being interviewed and I enjoyed your responses; especially the Mother T. quote.

Glad you got to spend time with your grandmother. I know my grandma had some great stories to tell---she even sent our daughter her paper dolls from the 1920's! Way cool! Going over now to read your interview. : )

All right, I'm back. Favorite quote is the one where you described what makes a Southern girl ".... all the while discussing SEC football..." ! Best line ever and so true!

Don't you just love listening to little ol' cajun ladies talk? When Don came to LA to visit me I had to "translate" a conversation between three old ladies in a bar that we were listening to. It was hilarious!!
