Ok, first things first. Daddy is doing great! I spent part of the day with him Saturday and just let me say – for a guy having dialysis and still on some pain meds (and in pain) he was pretty alert. While we were there Mama told him that she would be back Monday, “not tomorrow but the next”, and he said “OK, so today’s Saturday”, which I thought was pretty good with everything he’d been through in the past week. He was having a lot of nausea and really didn’t want to eat, even when the GI doctor told him he could have some Bluebell if he wanted. He said it didn’t sound good. What??? Mr. “Nine-O’clock-On-The-Dot-Bluebell-Time” didn’t want any? W.O.W. Then last night when I called to get the daily update I find out he had chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. In fact, as I write this Monday night – he may very well be out of ICU and in his very own room. Miracles do happen – never, ever give up. We’re not stopping those prayers yet though. Thanks again everyone!
Now back to today’s regularly scheduled program. It’s Tuesday so that means Rachel and Mr. Daddy provide an outlet for you to share your most hilarious, crazy, tender, touching, unbelievable true story with the rest of blogland. So after you finish here, head over there and see what else everyone had to contribute.
A few years back I went to an Astros game with my mom and a friend of hers – just some girls enjoying America’s pastime. You know, just like Julie. After the game we went to House of Guys Pies for a bite to eat before heading back home. We finished eating and then headed to the check out stand. We were behind these two guys who were having the best time with the cashier.
These guys definitely had her number that’s for sure. They told her they had just flown in and as it was so late, hadn’t had time to exchange their currency. All they had was Hawaiian money and wanted to know if they could pay their bill with it. She smiled every so sweetly and said she was sorry but they only accepted American money. They never broke character but kept insisting they only had Hawaiian money and could she ask the manager if they could make an exception and allow them to use it to pay their bill.
Now these two guys were very cute and this cashier loved how they were “flirting” with her so she would do anything they asked her. She called the manager over and explained to him that the two poor gentleman had just flown in and hadn’t had time to exchange their money and all they had was Hawaiian money and could he fix it so they could use it to pay for their food – please? He looked at her just like this:

He told the gentlemen he thought it would be OK this one time to make an exception and in fact, he would ring them up himself to make sure they got the right change back, you know what with it being Hawaiian money and all. Can I just tell you I thought I would either going to bite a hole in my cheek or sprain a stomach muscle trying not to laugh out loud? As they walked away and we moved up to the register to pay I congratulated them on a job well done. And the cashier? Well, the manager let her take a break and he finished ringing up the rest of the people in line.
Now that you’ve checked your map and your child’s geography book – head over to Mr. Daddy and Rachel's and hopefully renew your faith in the public school system.
If you’ll excuse me I must go find out what the coconut exchange rate is today because now I’m hungry for pie.

Roflmbo... I would have had to say something seriously. Then removed her from cashiering duties ASAP
That is hilarious! I wouldn't have been able to stop laughing. Thanks for including a picture of Simon in your post....I got my Simon fix. Sick, I know.
I'm thinking that I shouldn't admit that I thought it was really sweet of him to do that, huh? So, ummm. How 'bout them Astros? ;)
I am so glad you dad is doing better, still praying though! God is great!! As for the cashier, having been a cashier myself in many different types of places all I can say is OMG. Geography people!!!! LOL. I know people like this sadly. Handling money may not be the best job for her.
Ahh, that is sooo funny! LOL
I'm so glad to hear your dad is doing so well!!
hahahaha!! that simon pic is priceless!
Shoot, half the time I don't know what day of the week it is. Your daddy must be doing good. And about the girl. All I can say is Wow. Our public school system is really doing a bang up job.
That is hilarious. I do not know how you kept quiet!!
Ha!!
I hope your dad continues to get better and better.
Oh my gosh. That is hilarious. Hawaiian money lol.
I hate geography. And stupid places that might have different money.
So glad your dad is doing so well! Is it weird that when we were texting when he had surgery and when I've commented here about him, I've almost said, "I'm glad dad is..." Yeah, he's not my dad. We're not sisters. Well, not that we know of, but you know.
Oh my heck. That is just as good as my dad's, "Don't you remember me? We went to different schools together?" Gets 'em every time. Too funny - and I loved Simon's face.
LOL! That's hysterical! It's really funny how messed up they get when you give them a couple of pennies so you'll get larger coins instead of a handful of pennies and they cannot figure it out for the life of them!
Wow. I wish I could have seen that live and in person. Thanks for the laugh!
oh man id have gufawed!
very funny I bet they use that bit all the time.. very funny
So glad your Dad is doing so well...
I loved the story and Candance's response...
"I hate geography. And stupid places that might have different money."

So glad to hear your dad is doing better!
And I'm disappointed that I did not read your post until today! Oh my gosh, you linked to me and here I am a day late and a dollar short. *sigh* Sorry girl. And oh yeah, I had to think about why the Hawaii currency was funny. But I get it now. I'm slow, but eventually I come around.
Glad your Dad is doing well!!
Sorry to be so late... I am soooo behind! Blame my keyboard breaking, ugh!
Sooo glad your dad is on the mend! How insanely exciting to have gotten that call. And it was definitely my best birthday present :)
And the Hawaiian currency? I would have loved to have a seat at that show... they obviously had their whole act down pat, hee hee! :)
