My plan was to come home from work today, eat a little supper and then take a nap. Fail.
That Man called and I talked to him for almost an hour. Then I talked to my sister for 30 minutes or so. After I hung up with her, I still had to finish roasting some veggies I had already prepped so I threw those in the oven and had a little supper. By then it was too late to nap so now I’m reading blogs and trying to stay calm (and awake) until time to ‘go to town’ and see the girls!
I was reading Andrea's Attic and discovered I had been given this:
I love love love living in the South and try to make my blog reflect my love of all things and people Southern, so getting this award was just the best!
Apparently there are some rules to this award and they go something like this:
The Rules:
1. Copy and paste the award image onto your blog or website.
2. Answer the question "In your opinion, what makes a person a true southerner?"
3. Bestow the award upon a favorite southern blog!
When Dee interviewed me for Say Anything I said I thought this quote described a Southern Woman to a T:
“A southern girl is a girl who knows full and well that she can open a door for herself but prefers for the gentleman to do it because it demonstrates a sense of respect. After all, every girl wants to be treated like a princess. We know how to make sweet tea and grits while telling you everything about any football team in the SEC. We pick our battles and fight with the heart of a pit bull while still maintaining grace and elegance. Our mystique is that of a soft-spoken, mild-mannered southern bell who could direct an army, loves her momma and will always be daddy's little girl."
Now, to pick another Southern blog. There are so many that I love – what a task! I can’t pick one so here are my nominees:
Leanne at My Home and My Hips Are Both Doublewide (how cute is that name I ask?)
There are so many out there that too are deserving of this award so in the name of all that is polite and gracious, I say if you’re Southern, grab the button and claim your award!
In honor of my little adventure tonight, I’ll leave you with another quote I love…
"The most important thing in life is your family. There are days you love them, and others you don't. But, in the end, they're the people you always come home to. Sometimes it's the family you're born into and sometimes it's the one you make for yourself." ~ Carrie Bradshaw
Night y’all!
